When I’m at my desk, the world shrinks and I become less afraid. There is an earth-deep confidence and lack of inhibition that’s intuitive and joyful. All my worries about my place in the world, the losses and the modest gains become obsolete when my fingers meet the keyboard. The sentences flow like a dance I have danced my whole life. In that moment, I’m nothing more and nothing less than a storyteller. This small knowledge is deeply comforting.
